Optical Emission Spectrometric Analysis Technique, edited by Zhou Xilin, Ye Fanxiu, Wang Qiaona and Ye Chunhui, will make its debut recently by Metallurgical Industry Press. The book, based on requirements of the metal’s chemical contents inspection, illustrates the sample preparation techniques for the commonly used analysis equipment OES, and the enlarged application of optical emission spectrometric analysis method promoted by new sample preparation techniques. The editors also recommend the ultra-high pressure sample preparation, representing the new sample preparation techniques, and gave examples of practical operation by RUISHENBAO ultra-high pressure system. Here is the preview of samples prepared by RUISHENBAO ultra-high pressure system.
1. Working Principles
RUISHENBAO UHPS ultra-high pressure system (patent No. ZL201720912963.8 and ZL201730333360.8) is a complete set of equipment which can automatically control the whole pressurization progress under the assistance of specialized molds bearable of long-term high pressure. Hydraulic device provides pressure (max 3200KN), and gentle pressurization and decompression device controls specific pressure. Compared with conventional manual or electric pellet press (pressure range of 200-600KN), UHPS not only improves element analysis precision, but also realizes direct pressed formation of samples which are impossible or hard to be pressed without binders under conventional pressure, such as ore, alloy and biological samples. UHPS also guarantees samples to be prepared with smooth surface and high reproducibility.
2. Sample Preparation:
Soak the sample in 98 % anhydrous ethanol solution for 24 hours to remove dirt, and then dry it in the oven at 105 ℃ for 2 hours (or dry naturally) for backup.
3. Conditions:
Flatten the prepared sample in the sample cup of 40mm in diameter, produced by RUISHENBAO. Trim the sample to the proper size with flat-nose pliers if too long. And then set UHPS parameters of pressure increase for 2000KN, pressure holding for 20s, pressure release for 14s. At last, the prepared bead in diameter 40mm and thickness 4-6mm is marked with a number and stored in a dried container for backup.
